May 11, 2021 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to welcome Murrieta Surf Soccer Club as its newest expansion club for the Spring Season.

Based in Murrieta, CA, Murrieta Surf SC plays in the UPSL Western Conference SoCal South Division. The club hosts its home games at Galway Downs Soccer Complex (38801 Los Carralitos Rd, Temecula, CA 92592) and Los Alamos Sports Complex (37000 Ruth Ellen Way, Murrieta, CA 92563).

Murrieta Surf SC is owned by BK Sports Group. Bob Koptieff serves as President. Kevin Koptieff is the General Manager. Matt Aldama is the Head Coach. The team competes exclusively in the UPSL. 

UPSL Western Conference Manager Gary Brunner said, "Murrieta Surf soccer Club is one of the top youth and amateur clubs in its area, and the team is a welcome addition to the SoCal South Division. The club has experience at the regional and national level and its men's teams have played in local leagues for years. They want to play at a higher level and UPSL is establishing itself all over the Inland Empire. We wish the club continued success."

Murrieta Surf SC is an affiliate of San Diego Surf Soccer Club. Murrieta Surf SC teams teams have previously participated in MLS Next, Elite Academy League and the Southern California Development Soccer League (SCDSL).

"We have entered in to the UPSL to provide a high level of competition for Murrieta Surf youth academy players, club alumni and local talents in our community," Kevin Kopfieff said. "We want to provide our youth players the opportunity to showcase themselves in the UPSL where they'll find a well structured and professional environmnent. We have been preparing for this and we have the backing of the entire Murrieta Surf Soccer Club and its highly-regarded coaching staff led by club director Steve Miles. We have a well-structured player pathway, and we feel that we will have a signifcant impact in the league."

Murrieta Surf SC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
