November 22, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Grand Haven Admirals as a new member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.
Based in Western Michigan, Grand Haven Admirals will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference East Division, and host its UPSL home games at Grand Haven High School (17001 Ferris St., Grand Haven, MI 49417) in compliance with UPSL's National Standards.
United Premier Soccer League Michigan Division Manager Robert Brinkman said, "We're excited to have Grand Haven on board. Kody Harrell has spent time with other top clubs in Michigan, and he understands what it takes to compete at this level. The caliber of players that they are bringing into the league will have them at the top of the division soon. We're looking forward to helping Kody and Grand Haven Admirals grow into a west Michigan powerhouse."
Kody Harrell is Owner and President of Grand Haven Admirals. A native of Michigan, Harrell played two seasons of collegiate soccer at Muskegon (Mich.) Community College and one season at University of Charleston (W.V.). He currently is a soccer coach at Muskegon (Mich.)'s Reeths-Puffer High School.
Grand Haven Admirals Owner Kody Harrell said, "We're excited to join the UPSL because our values, mission and purpose fit well with the league. We have been very impressed with the constant communication and willingness to help. Being an expansion team is like being a new kid at school, and the UPSL has made us feel right at home and like we've been competing in the league for years. We think the UPSL is a platform that the community can be excited about! Grand Haven is filled with amazing, hard-working, kind and motivated individuals. Why wait to give people with those traits something as exciting and meaningful as this can be? This community deserves a high-level soccer product. Now it's our job to roll up our sleeves and get to work."
Harrell also owns and operates West Michigan Soccer Training, offering coaching clinics and local youth players a platform for high-intensity development.
Grand Haven Admirals will announce tryouts and its upcoming game schedule.
