July 24, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce New Jersey FC as a new league member kicking off with the 2019 Fall Season.
Based in Elizabeth (N.J.), New Jersey FC will begin play in UPSL Division II Northeast Conference, and is finalizing its venue options in compliance with UPSL Minimum Standards.
United Premier Soccer League Division I Northeast Conference Manager and UPSL Division II Northeast Conference American Section Manager Paul Konneh said, "We are excited to welcome New Jersey FC to the UPSL Northeast Conference. Owner Michael Silva has a passion for soccer in his hometown and is dedicated to raising the level of the game for players in his community. We're confident that his experiences on both the international and local stages will serve him well in this endeavor, and we support his efforts, and wish New Jersey FC the best of success as the club prepares for the Fall Season."
Michael Silva is Owner and Head Coach of New Jersey FC. A native of Elizabeth (N.J.), Silva was a four-year varsity player at Elizabeth High School and trained in Portugal at SL Benfica's youth academy when he was a 15- and 16-year-old. He played one year at Union County College and played for a number of teams in the Garden State Soccer League (USASA).
New Jersey FC Owner and Head Coach Michael Silva said, "We want to create a better playing environment for players in Elizabeth. There's a lot of soccer going on here but there's been that step missing for that elite level of player of a certain age that wants to train and compete year round. The UPSL is giving players and clubs an opportunity to showcase the best of their communities, and we're excited to be a part of the growth of the league in New Jersey."
The club will announce its upcoming game schedule.
