UPSL Announces New York Expansion with Greater Binghamton FC

Binghamton (N.Y.)-Based Club Joins UPSLs Northeast Conference

December 12, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Greater Binghamton Football Club as a member kicking off with the 2020 Spring Season.

Based in Upstate N.Y., Greater Binghamton FC is owned by Greater Binghamton Sports Complex, and will begin UPSL play in the Northeast Conference Division I. The club will host its UPSL home games at Visions FCU Field (1500 Airport Road, Binghamton, NY 13905) in compliance with UPSL National Division standards.

United Premier Soccer League Northeast Conference Patriot Division Manager Luis Costa said, "We're excited to welcome Greater Binghamton Football Club to the UPSL Northeast Conference. Owner Bahij Kashou established the club early in the decade, and they're roaring back to life in a big way. The Greater Binghamton Sports Complex remains the area's premier facility, and one of the top indoor spaces in the country. We wish Greater Binghamton FC the best of success as it gets set to kick off with the 2020 Spring Season."

Greater Binghamton Football Club began in 2012 and has previous experience in National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) from 2012-'14, and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup (2014). The club was the back-to-back NPSL Keystone Conference champions in '13 and '14, and reached the second round of the U.S. Open Cup in '14.

Greater Binghamton FC will compete exclusively in the UPSL.

Bahij Kahou is Owner and General Manager of Greater Binghamton Football Club. Andy Davis serves as Head Coach.

"The UPSL is a good fit for our organization. It is concentrating on maintaining a good, affordable league, and provides the opportunity for players and teams to advance. The league has been very flexible working with our location and facility concerns, and I can see this league growing and giving our talented players a pathway," Kashou said.

Greater Binghamton FC is currently partnered with GPS, and has produced four U.S. Youth Soccer National League qualifiers and many New York State Cup champions. A competitive and recreational program for more than 300 boys and girls in upstate N.Y., GBFC is among the Northeast's top youth programs,

The club will announce tryouts and its upcoming game schedule.

Greater Binghamton Football Club is an American Soccer club currently based in Binghamton, N.Y., and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Greater Binghamton FC will begin play in the UPSL Northeast Conference.

Founded in 2012, Greater Binghamton FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 500-plus teams targeted for 2020 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
